Artist, Educator, Maker, Mama

I started creating and showing my work over 20 years ago in the North Eastern United States. I soon became a teaching artist/visiting artist. I worked for arts and commmunity non-profits, creating and instructing workshops and classes full time. I did this for over 10 years: making and showing my own art and hosting spaces for others  to create in. When my oldest daughter was preschool aged I was given the oppportinuty to work  at her amazing preschool, as a teacher and artist consultant. There students had such freedom, many resources, and a beautiful community to explore and grow in. I was honored and truly grateful to spend my days there. I needed to relocate to some place with warmer weather, so we moved to the southeatern US. After moving I began to create little wooden creations with my oldest daughter. These designs formed the foundation of my business Star House. I have been designing and making little wooden sculptures for folks all over the world for the past eight years. During these years, I have also been hard at work creating with clay, wire, plastic, wood, paint, and fabric. Examples of this work can be found on this website.
Portrait of me, by my youngest daughter at the age of three.
I live and work in a tiny hillside cottage with my so sweet family (amazing husband, fantastic daughters, beautiful dog, and silly chickens). Our home faces west so most evenings are filled with glorious sunsets over the mountains. The sunsets remind me that at the end of the day, when all is said and done, we are here to create and appreciate beauty.
